Hockey Music Monday: Hit Somebody by Warren Zevon

"Hit Somebody" is a hockey song written by the late, great Warren Zevon and sports writer, Mitch Albom. Zevon is probably best known for his hit, Werewolves of London and Albom for the book, Tuesdays with Morrie which was also made into a TV movie starring Hank Azaria and the late Jack Lemmon.

This ballad focuses on a hockey player who is relegated to the role of enforcer on his team but dreams of being a goal scorer. Listeners learn about his life from the time he is born and through his trials and tribulations of working his way up the hockey ranks.

Note: Listen for CBS Late Show's David Letterman shouting the recurring "Hit somebody!"

Movie director Kevin Smith has announced that he is teaming up with Mitch Albom to make a movie based on Hit Somebody.
